Square stories - square visions - square design

An architectural intervention for a more sustainable city

I: Ines Eisinger (Bikini Kommando)

Chemnitz is a city with a generous layout. How can it be shaped in a way that people enjoy spending time in it while preparing the city for climate change? People with a historical connection to the place will talk about how they see the city’s squares. With planners and architects, they will spend two days developing new visions for squares and public spaces. The results of this will be presented using outdoor furniture, geodomes, chalk, and all sorts of other things. At the same time, students from all over Europe will develop new ideas for the unused space around the Karl Marx Monument. All works will be presented to the public.
