Whether it's figure skating, heavy athletics, athletics or football - Chemnitz is a city of sport and has produced one or two Olympians. If you want to try out different sports or just want to watch, you will get your money's worth, especially in September. We have put together some sporting events that are part of the Capital of Culture programme.

Sports United offers various opportunities to try out different sports, including at the stadium on Gellertstraße. There are also active tours that explore Chemnitz and the surrounding area in a sporty way, such as hiking, cycling, inline skating or special tours for families and children.
European Peace Ride
European Peace Ride reloaded
[11-13 September]
The European Peace Ride is not a classic cycle race, but a ride for peace and the European idea. The riders set off from Passau, Wałbrzych and Nova Gorica, cross different european countries and reach Chemnitz together. The ride builds on the tradition of the International Peace Ride, which was once considered the "Tour de France of the East".

Experience gymnastics

In the afternoon, #BeActive offers a varied programme of aerobics, AROHA® and yoga entertainment and exercise for all ages. In the evening, the gymnastics action show presents athletic strength, artistic elegance and choreographic creativity.
