Till Brönner: MELTING POTT

Photographs of people, machines and how they interact above and below ground

For over a year, jazz trumpeter Till Brönner travelled through the Ruhr area on behalf of the Brost Foundation and explored a region in transformation with his camera. He photographed steel workers and shop assistants, coal miners, pigeon fanciers and district celebrities such as Schalke's trumpeter Willi and Elke Heidenreich. He lovingly photographed people with diverse cultural backgrounds, approaching smoking chimneys and grey coking plant towers between renaturalised landscapes and Lake Kemnader. Brönner's Ruhrpott in the Erzgebirge: a marvellous encounter.
