European Peace Ride

The International Peace Ride was the most highly regarded amateur cycling event in the East, was often compared to the famous Tour de France, and was last held in 2006. The EUROPEAN PEACE RIDE (EPR), revived the idea of a trans-national cycling tour in 2021. But the EPR is more than just a multi-day bike race. Ambitious amateur cyclists spend months preparing for the gruelling circuit through several coun- tries (and over a number of mountains!). Open to people of all genders, religions, origins, and disabilities, EPR culture is all about togetherness, so it is much more of a social event. Cheering crowds line the roads and wait at the finish line, cre- ating spine-tingling moments worthy of the Tour de France itself. More than 220 cyclists from across Europe completed the European Peace Ride 2025 after three stages from Passau via Plzeň and Ústí nad Labem, arriving in Chemnitz on 13 September. The final Sattelfest at the Jutta Müller Ice Arena brought riders and visitors together to celebrate and highlight European unity. As a special guest, Jan Ullrich, former racing cyclist, rode the last stage together with the participants.
