Pop Up Exhibition Shaft 371

The exhibition offers the opportunity to gain insight into the history of uranium mining and experience its lasting impact at an authentic site, temporarily opened to the public for this purpose. Amidst generators, hoisting machinery, and depth indicators, a temporary presentation unfolds in the machine house, using key objects to highlight the history of uranium mining in Saxony. It sheds light on the challenges and responsibilities associated with the remediation of mining legacies.

At the same time, the exhibition looks to the future, focusing on Schacht 371 as the future presentation site of the Wismut heritage within the UNESCO World Heritage region Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří. The opening on May 1st commemorates the original name of the "Jugendschacht 1. Mai" of SDAG Wismut.
