Museums strength democracy

The annual conference of the German Museums Association was the largest museum conference in Germany and took place in Chemnitz in 2025. It offered specialist presentations and an exchange of experiences on current museum topics as well as the opportunity to network with museum experts from Germany and abroad.

As public places, museums can strengthen democracy. The responsibility and role of museums as institutions for democracy were analysed, and the tasks, limits and scope of museums as political actors were defined.
