UWE Festival

A festival of urban art in rural areas

On Whitsun weekend (7 and 8 June 2025), the time had finally come: UWE opened its doors to flood the Striegistal with art, culture, music and living creativity. Two days full of international urban art, workshops, regional arts and crafts and a musical programme that left nothing to be desired. Built in the 1920s, remodelled several times and used until the 2000s, the former substation has been a place of creativity in the Striegistal valley for five years. Graffiti, stencils and murals were created between old switch cabinets. Anyone who wanted to could build digital sculptures or screen print posters. A place of technological history became a walk-in work of art and a centre of attraction for makers from near and far. In two very lively creative weeks, around 35 artists from 6 countries once again transformed the Etzdorf substation into a vibrant creative laboratory.
