Lonig & Havendel

Vietnamese-East German event series

P: Claudia Tuyết Scheffel

What does Vietnamese culture mean to the German majority society? Although Vietnamese people are visible in the urban landscape of eastern Germany, the cliché that they behave quietly and inconspicuously still prevails. Filmmaker Claudia Tuyết Scheffel plays with these clichés, among others, in her film ‘Lonig & Havendel,’ which will serve as the starting point for a series of events in 2025, during which members of the film crew will give workshops in their areas of expertise. Vietnamese and German people of all ages will come together for workshops on culture, film, music and food. The events will be held in rooms adjacent to Vietnamese snack bars – culture can take place anywhere.
