When artistic impulses and spontaneity meet a rational and tightly planned research environment, new creative energy is generated. Artists experiment with mushroom meshes and filigree metal structures from the 3D printer and fold DNA using origami techniques.

Exhibitions organised by Klub Solitaer, Kreatives Chemnitz and the Fraunhofer ENAS Institute in Chemnitz showed what contemporary artists, research institutes and SMEs have developed together. Experts and interested parties came together in the FUNKEN Space - experimental, playful and guaranteed never boring. Whether FUNKEN Nights, Science Meets Art, the Sparks and Visions conference, the Collective Campus Art Action with Peter Piek, his summer concert or the FUNKEN Echoes: installations, performances and interactive exhibits presented the results and visions from past projects and residencies and showed pioneering artistic and scientific visions for Chemnitz.

When: 4 February to 2 December 2025
