The core trio of the National Socialist Underground (NSU) hid in Zwickau for years. On 4 November 2011, they unmasked themselves. The exact extent of their crimes only became apparent later: ten murders, several bomb attacks and numerous bank robberies throughout Germany. How do we as a society deal with the fact that an extreme right-wing terrorist cell lived in the centre of our own city for years, cultivated its local and national networks from here and committed horrific acts?
In his lecture, René Hahn explains how many people in Zwickau are endeavouring to come to terms with the complex and what resistance they are facing. Solidarity with those affected and their families is also highlighted and their life stories and fates after the crimes are shown.
René Hahn is a councillor for Die Linke in Zwickau and is involved in many local projects that deal with the NSU complex and its consequences
