Japanese drums breathe new life into every piece of music with their unique and sometimes unfamiliar tones. Throughout history, they have served a variety of purposes, ranging from communication and military action to theatrical accompaniment, religious ceremonies, and concert performances.
In these two workshops, participants can discover and try out traditional Japanese drums. Together, they will work on a piece that will be performed at the 23rd Festival of 100 Drums.
Workshop Part 1: October 24, 7-10 p.m.
Workshop Part 2: October 25, starting at 10 a.m.
