30 renowned international textile artists were invited by curator Gudrun Heinz to artistically and creatively explore the deliberately open theme "What's new?". Needles and threads were used to sew, embroider and weave, fabrics were dyed, painted and printed, textiles were manipulated, repurposed and placed in new contexts. A wide variety of techniques, including their own, were used to tell stories, reflect cultural identities or negotiate political, social and personal issues using threads, fabrics, wool, paper and other materials.

Visionary ideas, the variety of materials and the technical expertise of the artists made it possible to create unique and innovative works of art: Figurative and abstract works, art quilts, installations or textile objects speak for themselves, but also occasionally enter into dialogue with the museum's own exhibits.

The five-storey façade of the museum was covered with 200 fine tights in the colour spectrum purple.
