An exhibition as part of the European Youth Art Bridge project - Chemnitz Peace Banner - Stefan Heym Youth Art Project.
Heym's long life exemplifies the development of the 20th century and the opportunities an individual has to contribute to society. He always intervened in favour of freedom of thought and a just society. Gerald Richter and Marian Kretschmer are the creators of the graphic novel "The Seven Lives of Stefan Heym", for which around 1000 drawings were created. Both received the 2021 and 2024 Stefan Heym Prize for the conception of their youth art project and involved twelve educational institutions from Chemnitz and Central Saxony, where they worked with the graphic novel and the film "Heymkehr" (Media Education Prize Saxony 2024). Pupils have illustrated works by Heym, which will be presented together with originals of the graphic novel in an exhibition in the corridors of the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre from 4 September to 19 December 2025. On the website www.chemnitzer-friedensbanner.de under "Stefan Heym Project" you will find information, images and work materials, a brochure provides an overview of the graphic novel, the Heym film, work materials for teachers, banners with quotes by Heym and the illustrations - an exemplary overall media education package.
