The UW Etzdorf - UWE for short - is more than just a historic substation. In recent years, supported by international artists and the dedicated network of RebelArt, a unique place for artistic processes and creative work has been created here. Numerous works of art - installations, murals, sculptures and experimental formats - have been created directly in the building, making UWE a lively gallery of contemporary industrial art.

Supported by voluntary work, creative energy and international exchange programmes, the listed building from 1911 is gradually developing into an open centre for art, technology and culture. As part of the Capital of Culture Region Chemnitz 2025, UWE is an important meeting place for artists from all over the world - but often only visible behind the scenes. The motto is: Valuable - priceless or irreplaceable.

On Open Monument Day, there will be a rare opportunity to experience this saved monument to Central Saxony's industrial history from the inside - a place that has been given new life through art.
