Together with numerous other initiatives, the high-calibre art and sculpture trail "Purple Path" developed into the largest and most extensive project of the Capital of Culture. The works of national and international artists have created a remarkable exhibition in public spaces that connects Chemnitz with a total of 38 municipalities in the surrounding area. In many places, the installations tie in with regional history, change spaces, design parks and initiate reflection and dialogue with tradition and the present.
The encounter with a representative selection of newly created objects in Flöha (railway station tunnel), Amtsberg (Dittersdorfer Höhe), Bad Schlema (spa gardens), Thalheim ("Buntsockenpark") and Stollberg (memorial site) as part of the excursion will be combined with a visit to remarkable material witnesses to regional history, the astonishing restoration of which has recently been achieved through monument preservation initiatives, e.g. the Wilhelminian-style "Kurpark" (spa gardens), the "Buntsockenpark" in Thalheim and the "Stollberg Memorial" in Stollberg. For example, the Wilhelminian-style "Villa Neukirchner" (Thalheim) and the newly built St Pius Catholic Church (Hohenstein-Ernstthal).
Follow the highlights of the "Purple Trail" as part of an in-depth tour during an autumnal daytime event, which also brings the beauty of the Ore Mountains landscape very close to your eyes.

Lunch in the historic Thalheim "Ratskeller" and admission and tour fees of around 12 euros are not included in the course fee.

Last free cancellation date: 11 September 2025
