Exhibition duration: 15 October - 23 November 2025

Elisabeth Ahnert moved to Ehrenfriedersdorf in 1945, where she lived and worked until her death in 1966. Her deep connection to the town is now being honoured in a special way:
On 25 October 2025 at 3 pm, the first "Elisabeth-Ahnert-Straße " will be ceremonially inaugurated - a symbolic act that not only has local historical significance, but also represents a long overdue tribute to her artistic legacy.

Diana Kopka (Head of the Painting and Sculpture Department, Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz), Alexander Ochs (Purple Path curator for Chemnitz2025) and Michael Knauth (curator of the Elisabeth Ahnert exhibition) will speak at the exhibition opening at 4 pm . In addition, Sibylle Kuhne (actress and member of GEDOK Mitteldeutschland e.V.) will enrich the event with an artistic keynote speech on the life and work of Elisabeth Ahnert.

The exhibition provides a multifaceted insight into the work of this extraordinary artist, whose works are mentioned in the same breath as those of Paula Modersohn-Becker, Gabriele Münter and Käthe Kollwitz. Loans from state and private collections will be on display, revealing the full spectrum of Ahnert's oeuvre - from early drawings to later paintings.
