The fact that mining has always been a "man's business" was long regarded as an undisputed fact. However, depictions from 1490 prove that women have been active in mining for centuries. Esperança Bila is one such active miner. She works in underground construction planning and is doing her doctorate at the TU Freiberg on the subject of safety and rescue in small-scale mining. Together with host Gabi Reinhardt, she goes in search of clues in her biography, explains the silver lustre and scratches the male narrative of mining.
"Titten, Thesen, Temperamente" is a one-hour showtalk that goes straight into the lives of the guests. It asks how far gender equality has progressed in Germany in terms of recognition of work, working conditions and equal work-life balance.
