On Saturday at 5 pm, the Lehngericht invites you to a special cultural highlight: Frederic Heisig presents a shadow play specially developed in Augustusburg, which combines his artistic exploration of the town, its history and his thoughts on East Germany with literary motifs by Franz Kafka.

The audience can expect an atmospheric tour through the labyrinthine Lehngericht, ending with a final performance in the Festsaal. Heisig, who studied literature, philosophy and history in Bamberg, now works in the field of contemporary shadow theatre. His works search for new forms to tell stories between low tech and the digital present, between existential depth and the everyday.

During his two-week residency in November, Heisig intensively explored the town of Augustusburg, its history and the local people. Conversations and encounters gave rise to ideas on topics such as eastern identity and regional heritage, which he artistically related to Ore Mountain traditions, candle arches, Augustusburg Castle and the texts of Franz Kafka.
