For the first time, the Silbermann Festival combines jazz sounds with a Silbermann organ. Two Dutch jazz musicians - the outstanding jazz pianist and organist Bert van den Brink and the young, virtuoso trumpeter Ruben Drenth - bring fresh swing to the Silbermann Festival!
The interplay of trumpet and organ is a true duo infernale: rousing, full of energy and in perfect harmony. Bert van den Brink is one of the best musicians in Europe who plays jazz on pipe organs. He has already performed on stage with the greats of the European and international jazz scene such as Chet Baker and Dee Dee Bridgewater. The blind organist draws great inspiration from the organ and teaches jazz and improvisation at the Utrecht Conservatory. Ruben Drenth, who loves the music of the 1960s, literally "sings" into his trumpet. He inspires with catchy melodies and bold, rhythmic solos.
In the George Bähr Church in Forchheim, organ jazz meets an architectural jewel of the Ore Mountains. Completed in 1726 by George Bähr, the later architect of Dresden's Frauenkirche, the church is reminiscent of a theatre and thus provides excellent acoustics. The organ built by Gottfried Silbermann in the same year - perfectly positioned at the front above the altar - supports this unrivalled sound experience. The Silbermann Days offer an evening full of swing, virtuosity and baroque splendour.
