In three artistic works, students at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG Karlsruhe) explore questions of remembrance practices in different ways and how the NSU's crimes and their social background can be made visible and tangible. The focus is not only on the crimes themselves, but also on the structures that made them possible - from state failure to society looking the other way.

The works each approach the topic from a different perspective: with an installation on data and its structural management, an interactive audio-based network analysis of the state NSU environment and a performance that inscribes memories in the urban space using a high-pressure cleaner. They invite visitors to engage with the continuing effects of right-wing violence and ask what role art can play in visualising repressed histories and in collective remembrance.

Artists: Josephine Leicht and Chelsea Kim, Rosa Maar and Julian Jaffe as well as Alina Virnich.

Director: Prof Charlotte Eifler, Mixed Realities, Department of Media Art HfG Karlsruhe

The event will be held partly in German and partly in English.

An event in co-operation with the HfG Karlsruhe.
