On Wednesday, 5 November 2025, at 6 pm, the actress Claudia Wenzel will be a guest at the Lehngericht. She will read from her autobiography "Mein Herz lässt sich nicht teilen. Eine Wendegeschichte", in which she takes a very personal look at her life in the GDR, German reunification and the time afterwards.

Claudia Wenzel, born in Lutherstadt Wittenberg in 1959, was a member of the ensemble at the Leipzig Schauspielhaus after studying acting. After reunification, she performed at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin and the Winterhuder Fährhaus in Hamburg, among others. In addition to her theatre work, she became known through numerous television roles - for example in the series Unser Lehrer Doktor Specht or in the ARD soap Sturm der Liebe.

In her book, Claudia Wenzel talks about the possibilities of leaving the GDR - and why she decided to stay anyway. She describes her turmoil between political dissatisfaction and the strong feeling of attachment to family, friends and home. 35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, she looks back on this formative time, asks critical questions about the present and talks about the ruptures and opportunities that have arisen from reunification.

The reading is part of the LeseZeichen literature festival, which is being organised by Mittelsächsische Kultur gGmbH for the third time from 31 October to 9 November 2025. During this period, readings and literary events will take place in unusual locations throughout the district of Central Saxony - in places that are not immediately associated with literature. The festival thus sets a special accent: fiction and poetry are to conquer new spaces and meet people where they do not expect it.
