The internationally active artist Kirsten Kötter is organising a participatory artistic event with a competitive sporting character in Chemnitz Küchwald: a paintingathon - from 19 to 21 August 2025, open to the public on site and afterwards online. The Malathon is modelled on the marathon and has 42 stations on 42 trees instead of 42 kilometres like the marathon. The trees will be labelled in advance with nature-friendly strings and numbers. Kirsten Kötter records the situation from tree to tree with watercolours, video and sound. Such a protocol takes at least 10, sometimes up to 30 minutes. Parallel to the production, the finished works are exhibited: on the trees where they were created and/or (depending on the weather) in the reception pavilion as well as digitally on the Internet.

The public can experience the production of the artwork and watch the painting process, for example: How do colours, water ... behave? Or the audience can also become active and communicate with Kirsten Kötter, paint themselves or take up other activities, such as writing, photographing, making music, meditating. Please bring all the necessary materials with you! At the end, a course will be created outdoors.
