The dark season is the perfect opportunity to get creative - not with scissors and glue, but with lasers and digital precision! At MakerDay Augustusburg, the digital workshop in the Lehngericht will be transformed into an open hands-on workshop for anyone who is interested in technology, design and trying things out together.

You can realise your own winter ideas in small workshops: Stars, filigree tree ornaments, personalised gift tags or small wooden tea light holders - there are no limits to the imagination. You will also be shown how to turn a simple idea on the computer into a real object that the laser cutter brings to life with light.

Whether beginner or technology pro - everyone is welcome! The aim is to discover together which soft skills are required for makers: Teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving and communication. A memo wall will be used to record which skills become visible during the course of the day - and to learn from each other.

Simply come along between 10 am and 3 pm, experiment with moulds, materials and engravings and take home the unique piece you have made yourself - perhaps as a gift for Christmas. Materials, calculators and support are available here.

There will also be a lunchtime snack and plenty of room for discussion.

Results, photos and impressions of the MakerDay will also be shared online afterwards via the x-Inno Radar platform.

An event organised by the Branchenverband der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft Chemnitz und Umgebung e.V. (Kreatives Chemnitz) as part of the "x-Inno Radar" project with the kind support of the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE programme with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund.

Makerhubs

Nine Makerhubs in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region will become places where people can learn from each other and create something new together. They are also places where designers, craftspeople, entrepreneurs, the next generation of skilled workers and makers from all over the world come together. Visitors and creative tourists can experience regional culture and traditions at workshops. The Makerhubs are part of the Makers, Business & Arts programme. This main project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 is all about promoting creative tourism offerings and cross-sector collaboration between industry and creative professionals. The project is being implemented by the Kulturhauptstadt Europas Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH in cooperation with the Landesverband der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft Sachsen e. V.
