From 29 October 2025, the Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz will be showing a curated section of the transnational exhibition MADE IN - Future Legacies, which will open at the Siebenschlehener Pochwerk in Schneeberg. The presentation in Chemnitz is intended as an exhibition satellite that offers a complementary insight into the European platform MADE IN - Platform for Contemporary Crafts & Design.
The exhibition in Schneeberg brings together collaborations between designers, craftspeople and researchers from six European countries - including Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal and Germany - that have been created since 2023. MADE IN sees itself as an interface between cultural heritage, design studio, research laboratory and workshop and poses questions about sustainable design, ecological resources and social change.
In Chemnitz, selected exhibits and material studies will be presented that are exemplary for the examination of craft heritage and sustainable design concepts. The satellite thus offers visitors the opportunity to engage with the content of the project outside of the original exhibition venue - in the context of an urban museum space.
The Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz are delighted to be part of this pioneering European project and to be setting an example for transnational cooperation in the fields of art, crafts and design as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
