Local swing arches in the Ore Mountains

On Tuesday, 8 October 2025, Heike and Wolfgang Lorentz will present their unique documentation "Ortsschwibbögen im Erzgebirge" at the Lehngericht Augustusburg. In more than seven years of intensive research, they have compiled facts, data and stories about 216 local swing arches throughout the Ore Mountains. The result is a 293-page work that not only documents the size, location and history of each arch, but also preserves numerous background stories that would otherwise have been forgotten. The publication thus fills a gap in our knowledge and emphasises the importance of the local Schwibbögen for regional identity. Heike and Wolfgang Lorentz see their work as a contribution to the preservation of an intangible cultural heritage of the Ore Mountains - and as an incentive for communities that have not yet had a local swing arch.

The book presentation in the Lehngericht offers interested parties the opportunity to immerse themselves in this multi-faceted documentation and to talk to the authors.
