Whether made entirely by hand or with the help of a cutting or pen plotter, you can try out different types of paper and techniques. Dipping them in wax gives the lanterns their special stability and a unique play of light. Traditional and digital methods can be combined in a playful way to create a customised illuminated object.
Workshop leader Pia Hackner is a trained carpenter and studied wood design, furniture and product design at the Schneeberg University of Applied Arts. She is active in the Erzgebirge maker network, founded the "NEUSCHNEE" project, opened a shop, offers workshops and enjoys working with people from a wide range of professional fields.
The workshop is part of the event series "333 Stunden Werkstatt der Wunder", a project within the framework of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget adopted by the Saxon State Parliament and by federal funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.
