A woven tapestry with the motif of a roaring stag in an idyllic landscape was a favourite subject above the sofas of grandparents' generations from the 1930s until the 1960s. Over 300 motifs ranging from town and village views, Alpine landscapes and genre scenes to fairy tales and flower bouquets can be found in the collection of the Hohenstein-Ernstthal Textile and Racing Museum. This was the centre of industrially produced murals in the 20th century.

At the end of the 1960s, the industrially produced tapestry became unfashionable as a decorative element and was removed from the wall. The hitchhiking and blues scene in the GDR then used it to sew a cloak bag - the "Hirschbeutel".
