Brigitte Schwacke was born in 1957 in Marl, NRW. She studied as a master student under Sir Eduardo Paolozzi at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. She received, among other awards, the DAAD Scholarship for Great Britain and worked as a Research Assistant in London. Today, the artist lives and works in Munich.

About her work "Eternity and a Day," she says: A silver fabric hangs before the altar. It is made of anodized aluminum wire, crocheted – stitch by stitch. Irregularities, density, and dissolution are integrated into the manufacturing process. The individual handwriting is visible – the line in time is perceptible. The silver fabric veils, obscures, remains transparent, and reflects – depending on the time of day – the light of the space.

Greeting: Holger Müller, Deputy Mayor for Culture of the City of Mittweida
Artistic Introduction: Holger Bartsch, Pastor for Chemnitz European Capital of Culture 2025
