The stainless steel sculpture by Axel Anklam (*1971, Wriezen, Germany / +2022, Berlin, Germany) has a dynamic form that is as vague as it is directionless. Its hybrid form, which is also reminiscent of a light-coloured column of smoke, oscillates between plant, mineral and animal states and motifs. Situated at the entrance to the Electress Anna Garden with its flowering shrubs and beds of historical herbs, the artwork references the work of Electress Anna of Saxony (1532-1585), who went down in history as an important herbalist and pharmacist.
