Friday (12 September): Chemnitz reads Heym. A reading marathon through Heym's native city of Chemnitz.
Tour:
11 am - 1 pm: Opening tour "In the footsteps of the young Stefan Heym" across the Kaßberg in Chemnitz. With city guide Grit Linke.

Reading marathon:
11 a.m. - 8 p.m.: Readings at various locations in the city from Heym's works - from his novels, short stories, fairy tales and poems as well as his journalistic texts and speeches.
Places where readings will take place include:
Opera House, Kunstsammlungen, Museum Gunzenhauser, DAS Tietz cultural centre, Dachgarten Wirkbau, Weltecho, Lokomov
Actors and representatives from urban society, culture, politics, associations, scientists, students, pupils and members of the International Stefan Heym Society will be reading.

Words & Music - Concert with Robert Stadlober:
19.30 - 21.30: Musical-literary programme to kick off the 7th Stefan Heym Student Competition in the auditorium of the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium, Stefan Heym's former school on the Kaßberg. The highlight of this event will be the performance by actor and musician Robert Stadlober, who, together with Klara Deutschmann and Daniel Moheit, will present songs from his programme "HEYM - Vom Aufstoßen der Fenster" with settings of poems by the young Stefan Heym.
