We invite you to a special evening in Chemnitz city centre. As part of our commitment to the European Capital of Culture 2025, we are opening our location for an inspiring panel discussion on the topic of garages.

We will immerse ourselves in the exciting garage culture as it was lived in the former GDR and still retains its significance today in many cities such as Chemnitz.

What you can expect:

  • Martin Maleschka, artist and East German chronicler, talks about his finds from three garage yards. Among other things, this resulted in an impressive installation in the lift shaft of the Chemnitz Vehicle Museum.
  • Project manager Ann-Kathrin Ntokalou and contributor Andreas Hofmann present the "Fischelant" project: An exhibition about a machine that turns dung into gold and the question: what happens when a city sinks into abundance?
