Artists worked together with researchers from Chemnitz University of Technology for a week. The aim was to experiment in the field of tension between art and technology. Art and science were jointly conceived, researched and visualised in the form of prototypes and artworks.
As part of the FUNKEN Echoes vernissage, we experience the special moment when art and high-tech meet. In three interdisciplinary workshops, participants, artists and researchers will explore various topics and questions: What happens when physics meets creativity? How do robots and AIs create illusions of subjectivity via language, movement and sensory interfaces? What aesthetic, technical and narrative potential lies in the bio-based and speculative material GEOBRIS made from mealworm faeces?
The exhibition presents the artistic experiments and results from the workshops, which are based on the high-tech laboratories, materials and core competencies of the three research centres at Chemnitz University of Technology - TU MAIN, TU MERGE and TU MeTech. The artists make nanotechnology tangible to the senses, explore interactions between man and machine and develop speculative material experiments that combine art and science.
In the presence of representatives of the research centres and artists, we will take a look at the results of the collaboration between science and art.
The evening will conclude with a concert by makroplastik. A band that fuses drums and synthesiser to create a unique sound.
