The exhibition provides a multifaceted insight into the work of this extraordinary artist, whose works are mentioned in the same breath as those of Paula Modersohn-Becker, Gabriele Münter and Käthe Kollwitz. On display are loans from state collections (Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, Kunstsammlungen Erfurt) and private collections that reveal the full range of Ahnert's oeuvre - from early drawings to later paintings.
Elisabeth Ahnert moved to Ehrenfriedersdorf in 1945, where she lived and worked until her death in 1966. Her deep connection to the town is now being honoured in a special way.
