Europe Sounds - Music connects Europe in Chemnitz

From 7 to 9 May 2025, Neumarkt in Chemnitz city centre will be transformed into a stage for European diversity.

As part of the "Europe Sounds" concert series, international artists will be performing from 7 to 9 May in collaboration with Chemnitz's partner cities, European Capitals of Culture and embassies to enrich the cultural programme of Europe Week. The stage programme on the Neumarkt offers a varied mix of traditional and modern dance, choirs and bands. It invites you to experience the musical diversity of Europe and familiarise yourself with European traditions.

On 8 May 2025 from 5 pm, artists from Andalusia (Spain), Évora (Portugal), Trenčín (Slovakia), Ukraine and Flanders (Belgium) will perform. The event will be hosted by Chemnitz radio presenter Conny Hartmann. From 11 am, food and beverages as well as a merchandise and an information stand will also be available on Neumarkt.

17:00 Namysto 
Namysto is the choir of the Ukraine House Chemnitz. Under the direction of Maria Kirdeliova, it performs traditional and popular songs from Ukraine.

17:50 Folklore Ensemble Nadšenci (Slovakia)
Nadsenci - that means "the enthusiastic ones". The group has been dancing traditional dances from Trenčín and the surrounding area for over 15 years - with a lot of heart and passion. 

18:30 Cuadro Flamenco de Tamara Lucio (Spain)
The flamenco troupe from Andalusia unites the essence and energy of traditional flamenco by combining music, dance and song to create a unique and captivating show.

19:40 CDCE - Companhia de Dança Contemporânea (Portugal)
CDCE - Companhia de Dança Contemporânea from Évora develops contemporary dance with its own language and interdisciplinary approach under Nélia Pinheiro - active in Portugal and internationally.

20:50 Susobrino (Belgium)
Percussion meets electronics: Susobrino combines Latin American rhythms with modern sounds to create a unique musical world. Born in Bolivia and now living in Brussels, his love of percussion, film music and cultural exchange has left its mark on him.
