Europe Sounds - Music connects Europe in Chemnitz

From 7 to 9 May 2025, Neumarkt in Chemnitz city centre will be transformed into a stage for European diversity.

As part of the "Europe Sounds" concert series, international artists will be performing from 7 to 9 May in collaboration with Chemnitz's partner cities, European Capitals of Culture and embassies to enrich the cultural programme of Europe Week. The stage programme on the Neumarkt offers a varied mix of traditional and modern dance, choirs and bands. It invites you to experience the musical diversity of Europe and familiarise yourself with European traditions.

On 9 May 2025 from 5 pm, artists from Romania, Armenia, Greece and, as a special highlight, Slovenia will perform. The event will be hosted by Chemnitz slam poet Birte Henneberger. From 11 am, food and beverages as well as a merchandise and an information stand will also be available on Neumarkt.

10:30 und  16:30  Towers of Europe (musicians at the Chemnitz Carillon)
The Chemnitz Carillon, played by Sebastian Liebold, resounds in the New Town Hall with hymns from all over Europe. 

17:15 Circ Discret (Romania)
Circ Discret is the ensemble of the Timișoara Circus School. With moving images, emotion and expression, it creates poetic contemporary circus for audiences of all ages.

18:15 Cornelia Blaudeck and Franzpeter Uhlig 
The musicians play peace pieces on the carillon.

18:45 LYKEION TON ELLINIDON 
The dance group of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women brings the diversity of Greek dances to the stage in original costumes - full of joie de vivre, tradition and community.

19:30 Hover (Armenia)
The Armenian State Chamber Choir has been inspiring audiences with choral music between classical and experimental since 1992. In Chemnitz, the award-winning choir presents works from Armenia and Europe.

20:40 KATALENA (Slovenia)
Katalena, the voice of 21st-century Slovene folk music, masterfully blends tradition with modernity. Their unique sound and electrifying performances inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
