Curatorial tour: Dialogue field 3

Klub Solitaer e.V. is organising the Dialogue Fields residency programme as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. Three international artists are invited to live in Chemnitz for six weeks at a time and work on the theme of favour.

Denise Lee / 李筑 (USA/Hong Kong/Taiwan) and Philipp Kolychev (Czech Republic) have been guests at Sonnenberg since 11 July. They are living here, getting to know the city and its people and developing new artistic ideas. They will be accompanied by the Chemnitz artist Anne Schädlich, who is developing her own artistic position in response to our guests.

Philipp Kolychev 's mobile installation invites passers-by to play chess and then eat the pieces. In doing so, he poses questions about public space and the social interaction that takes place there. Denise Lee also invites people to join in. In her workshops, visitors can create trickster or jester masks, which are then worn in a joint parade. In many cultures, the mythical figure of the trickster, which roughly corresponds to the jester, symbolises social change. With a final parade, Denise Lee invites people to bring transformation to the streets. Anne Schädlich, on the other hand, transforms the textile legacies on the streets of Chemnitz into areas that invite people to linger. She interweaves their old stories and invites us to question our own perspective.

A walk together through the Sonnenberg neighbourhood.

On 16 August we will kick off the intervention week together, during which the results of the five-week residency will be presented. On a short tour together with the artists in residence, we will visit the works on site and would like to engage in dialogue. The tour starts at 4 p .m. at Lokomov in Augustusburger Str. 102.

The works developed during the residency will be on display for one week until 24 August. Curatorial tours will also be organised.
