Finissage at the Kunstbahnhof: Entanglements
Since 11 April, the renovated station hall in Flöha has been the venue for a special exhibition: "Entanglements" by the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa). Special because the ifa usually only organises exhibitions abroad. However, an exception was made for the Capital of Culture Year 2025. Since the opening, over 10,000 visitors (as of June) have already found their way to Flöha to see works by Käthe Kollwitz, Hermann Glöckner, Asta Gröting and many other artists.
The station concourse was also brought to life by the "open space" - a meeting point for local residents and guests. Over coffee and cake, there were interesting facts and information about the Capital of Culture and the region, film screenings about Flöha, the old cotton and railway history as well as numerous discussions about the past and the new. The workshops offered by the UFO youth centre and UndoYarn from Chemnitz also met with lively interest.
The "Entanglements" exhibition in Flöha will end on 3 August with a small finissage. All interested parties and art lovers are cordially invited from 2 pm. There will be a last free cultural coffee and cake, two guided tours of the exhibition with Ms Petronella Soltesz (ifa) and a preview of what comes next.
UndoYarn from Chemnitz will once again be a guest at the Kunstbahnhof on Friday, 1 August. Ina Goetz will be leading an exciting workshop on upcycling, material utilisation and repair.
A special highlight follows on Saturday, 2 August: a coffee party with the former head chef of Alte Baumwolle, Mr Schaufel. The films about the last days of the cotton will be shown once again. All former employees of Alte Baumwolle Flöha and all interested parties are invited.
