Europe has been a laboratory and pioneer of avant-garde electronic music for over a century. How can a new European electronic music sound that emerges from itself and the personalities of its creators? raster-media was looking for new, bold concepts and compositions in an ↗open call Soundtrack Europe 20_25 in the context of a project of the Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. Two acts, each of which won in one of the 5 genres advertised, will be presented by the Art Festival BEGEHUNGEN on this evening.

Joss Turnbull is known for his creative interpretation of various Middle Eastern drums such as Tombak, Mazhar and Riqq. His sound ranges from minimalist musical explorations using fingers, palms, fingernails and preparations to more extreme and raw soundscapes, often complemented by electronic elements. He is currently developing a new solo repertoire entitled "Turmoil", which explores specific playing states and the interplay of electronics, tombac and voice.

Drone Operatør is a post-digital, kleptomaniac free jazz project, by visual artists Paul Barsch and Tilman Hornig, best known for its prolific and endless musical output online and on various labels and physical recordings. Their drone saxophone performances have been performed at various influential festivals for experimental music and art.
