Controversial, artificial, artistic - artificial intelligence (AI) has long been part of our everyday lives. But what happens when technical "superintelligence" suddenly becomes tangible? In a scenic concert with music, dance and drama, young people and professional artists pose this question. As a starting point, they tell the age-old story of Pygmalion, the ancient sculptor who falls in love with his chiselled statue Galatea until the goddess Venus brings her to life for his sake.

Is this the first idea of artificial intelligence? With pieces by Julia Wolfes, Béla Bartók, Arvo Pärt, Ludwig van Beethoven and contemporary commissioned compositions, the piece brings together the fears, opportunities, hopes and realities of artificial intelligence (AI), art and music. This raises the question of who or what is the human being. In the spirit of the request: "Please confirm that you are human!"

The starting point is Georg Anton Benda's melodrama Pygmalion, based on a text by Jean-Jacques Rousseau after Ovid. It is complemented by music from Beethoven's Creatures of Prometheus - a work that also thematises the creation of artificial life.
