The EuroBean Chocolate Festival has established itself as a European chocolate festival since 2016. As a bean-to-bar event, visitors can find out about the origin, cultivation conditions and artisanal processing of cocoa. This promotes awareness of fair trade cocoa and sustainability. In the European Capital of Culture year, the festival welcomed 50 chocolate makers from Europe and beyond. A special feature was the connection between Chemnitz and the twin cities of Manchester, Tampere, Łódź and others. In collaboration with the TALES OF TRANSFORMATION exhibition at the Chemnitz Industrial Museum, contributions were created that told of the transformation of industrial locations. Industrial culture and innovations in industrial production could be experienced at tastings, a children's programme, the chocolate rally, workshops and concerts as well as catering and a colourful marketplace. This made the festival an experience for young and old, and not just for chocolate lovers.
