Elisabeth Ahnert
Exhibition opening to mark the artist's 140th birthday and official inauguration of Elisabeth-Ahnert-Straße.

Elisabeth Ahnert was born in Chemnitz in 1885 and studied at the Dresden Academy of Applied Arts from 1908 onwards. She moved to Ehrenfriedersdorf in 1945 and lived there until her death in 1966. Elisabeth Ahnert is undoubtedly one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and is mentioned in the same breath as artists such as Paula Modersohn-Becker, Gabriele Münter, and Käthe Kollwitz. The exhibition provides an overview of her extensive oeuvre, featuring works from several state and private collections. The street inauguration will mark the first "Elisabeth Ahnert Street."
