Beyond Geometry. Frei Otto × Kengo Kuma
Architecture exhibition at the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz

Frei Otto characterised the architecture of the 20th century with his pioneering spirit and his work in lightweight construction. The Japanese architect Kengo Kuma was also inspired by him. Beyond Geometry is dedicated to these two architects.

Mental health in club culture

"ab ovo" - from the egg, from the beginning - stands for a new beginning: a party culture that reflects on consumption and explores mindful alternatives of experience. The event opens up a space for exchange and new perspectives in order to establish mental health as a central element of club culture.

Mining has been carried out in the Ore Mountains for three and a half millennia. Treasures & Tragedies tells of power and wealth, of pioneering technical innovations, but also of the exploitation of people and nature.

Dialogue field 1
Artistic interventions on the Sonnenberg

At Dialogue Fields, international and Chemnitz artists meet and develop new art formats. The first results will be presented on Saturday, followed by spontaneous interventions over the next week.

John Cage. Museumcircle
Exhibition with random exhibits from the region
[until 18 May]
The Chemnitz Industrial Museum presents John Cage. Museumcircle. Over 100 objects from 52 museums and exhibition spaces in the region have been randomly selected and randomly arranged. Between nutcrackers, motorbikes and expressionist art, a space for free association about the region's cultural heritage has been created.

Werkschau - Made in Saxony
Exhibition of the Saxon cultural and creative industries

The exhibition Werkschau - Made in Saxony impressively demonstrates why good design, smart solutions and unconventional ideas make all the difference. Furniture and interiors, design and illustration, film and music, fashion and accessories, art and performance.

Members’ Assembly
Photo portraits in local shops
The Members' Assembly exhibition is decentralised throughout the city of Chemnitz. 50 shops are displaying portraits of Chemnitz garage users in their shop windows and rooms, which were taken by photographer Maria Sturm with her analogue mid-range camera.

Karl Schmidt-Rottluff House
Expressionist from Chemnitz
The Karl Schmidt-Rottluff House is the childhood home of the German expressionist Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, co-founder of the Brücke group of artists and one of the most important German artists of the 20th century. An exhibition focuses on his work and biography and the history of Expressionism in Chemnitz.

Sun seekers!
An exhibition on art and mining at Wismut
[10 April - 10 August]
In GDR times, "Wismut" mined weapons-grade uranium for the Soviet Union - and collected fine art on a grand scale. In Zwickau, at an authentic site of Wismut's history, Sun seekers! presents the most extensive art collection of a GDR company.

PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail
Everything comes from the mountain
The PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail will showcase works by renowned international, national and Saxon artists. The result is an exhibition in public space that tells the story of people, craftsmanship and industry and invites visitors to discover these stories.
