The first Chemnitz rooftop festival
An abundance of Chemnitz rooftops invite you to explore the urban landscape from above at the first COLOURFUL ROOFTOPS festival. Art and culture at unusual heights unleashes new perspectives on urban living, and entertainment entices visitors to stay awhile in unforeseen places, transforming our roofscape into a lively venue for experiencing community. Organised by the City of Chemnitz, this weekend will host discussions on new potential uses for roofs, highlight opportunities for sustainable urban development, and present a different view of the city.

Programme
On Saturday, 23 August 2025, 18 rooftops in Chemnitz that usually remain closed will open - including the Schocken department stores', the Wirkbau and the Red Tower. Concerts or guided tours await on some of them, while others simply invite you to marvel and enjoy the view. From 10 am to 6 pm, visitors can discover new perspectives; admission is free. Tickets can be booked in advance for guided tours and selected programme items.
