CHEMNITZ MOVES

A big stage show full of drama, music and dance: young people from Don Bosco Sachsen took to the stage together with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, dancer Sara Ezzel and actor Christoph Tomanek. Under the musical direction of Anna-Sophie Brüning and the direction of Anna Drescher, they presented the result of a year-long project centred on the topic of artificial intelligence. Controversial, artificial, artistic - what happens when technical "superintelligence" suddenly becomes tangible to the senses? The ancient legend of the sculptor Pygmalion, who falls unhappily in love with his statue Galatea until the goddess Venus brings her back to life, served as the central theme. Originally taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses, the story has been taken up by numerous composers, including Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The basis for Chemnitz Moves was the setting of Rousseau's melodrama by Georg Anton Bendas.
