CHEMNITZ MOVES
"Please confirm that you are human!"

A big stage show full of drama, music and dance: young people from Don Bosco Sachsen take to the stage together with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, internationally acclaimed dancer Sara Ezzel and actor Christoph Tomanek. Under the musical direction of Anna-Sophie Brüning and the direction of Anna Drescher, they present the result of a year-long project centred on the topic of artificial intelligence. The Don Bosco facilities in Saxony accompany and support children and young people in difficult situations with educational, leisure and support programmes.
The scenic concert poses the question of the role of artificial intelligence: controversial, artificial, artistic - what happens when technical "super intelligence" suddenly becomes tangible to the senses? The ancient legend of the sculptor Pygmalion, who falls unhappily in love with his statue Galatea until the goddess Venus brings her back to life, serves as a central theme. Originally taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses, the story has been taken up by numerous composers, including Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The basis for Chemnitz Moves is the setting of Rousseau's melodrama by Georg Anton Bendas.
With works by Julia Wolfe, Béla Bartók, Arvo Pärt, Ludwig van Beethoven and contemporary commissioned compositions, fears, hopes and realities relating to AI, art and music come together. The question arises again and again: "Who or what is the human being?" In the spirit of the request: "Please confirm that you are human!"
