My wife Bettina and I were browsing through the volunteer database when a particularly charming invitation caught our eye: a picnic with the Capital of Culture volunteer team! The registration was done quickly and after a look at the information it was clear - everyone was bringing something to snack on, eat and feel good.
The idea came from the always cheerful Delfina. Anton, our culinary wizard, had already picked out lots of delicious recipes for vegan snacks and treats in advance. The staff from the Capital of Culture volunteer team had their hands full: providing drinks, slicing fruit, making sandwiches and providing cushions and sun cream. As our picnic was taking place in the Stadthallenpark and the weather had been very changeable so far, we didn't know what we needed for a long time: Umbrella or sun cream? But Peter was on our side and everything was perfect.
Many volunteers brought other delicacies with them, resulting in a varied, colourful and delicious buffet. As expected, it was a relaxed, cheerful get-together where we met many familiar faces and made new friends.
In conversations, funny episodes or particularly interesting facts from various missions were exchanged and tips were given for events and exhibitions currently taking place.
We spent an enjoyable, entertaining time together, which flew by.
