In the volunteer editorial team, Volunteers for Chemnitz 2025 publish reports on their experiences, assignments and adventures around the European Capital of Culture.

Bodo is 66 years old and lives in Neukirchen in the Ore Mountains. The former group and project leader has been a "volunteer from the very beginning" and has been involved with Chemnitz 2025 for several years. He uses his organisational expertise in the volunteer editorial team and takes care of archiving the texts.

We are a small, dedicated team of volunteers for the Capital of Culture. Our core team, the "volunteer editorial team", was set up at the beginning of 2024 on the initiative of Kristina Köhler. During our volunteer assignments, we are easily recognisable by our sapphire blue T-shirts.

All volunteers have the opportunity to record their experiences in volunteer reports. These are later published in two languages - German and English - on the Capital of Culture website.

In them, the volunteers describe their assignments, experiences, tasks and exciting moments of the Capital of Culture - from a very personal point of view.

Today we are celebrating a very special anniversary at Diebels Fasskeller in Chemnitz: the 60th Volunteer Report! Who would have thought it at the beginning?

In our cheerful group, we are joined by other volunteers who are chatting away, our Head of Volunteering Dirk Zinner and two friendly colleagues - Mareike Holfeld and Emma Volkova - from the Capital of Culture press team. Thanks to their support, our contributions are published directly on the Capital of Culture website as volunteer feedback - a great success and a reason to celebrate. With the volunteer reports, we not only want to preserve memories and promote dialogue within the volunteer community, but also inspire others to get involved and volunteer.

What have we not experienced so far: conversations with artists, sponsors and politicians, encounters with people from near and far - a mixture of impressions and experiences that we would never have dreamed of before, for example the summer festival, meetings with sponsor Maximo and Federal Chancellor Scholz.

Writing down stories is great fun, but it's even better when they are read - whether by Chemnitz residents, visitors, other volunteers or simply by people who are curious about the Capital of Culture. It was a wonderful evening full of enthusiasm - accompanied by the anticipation of everything that this special year still has in store.
