In a discussion with Stefan Schmidtke, the Programme Director of Chemnitz 2025, and Christoph Dittrich, the General Director of Theater Chemnitz, the curators of Theater der Welt will introduce themselves to the public on 25 November at 6 pm in the Hartmannfabrik.

Germany's largest international theatre festival will take place in Chemnitz from 18 June to 5 July 2026. Nine international curators will take over the artistic direction: Simon Abrahams (Australia), Joshua Dalledonne (Canada), Rodrigo González Alvarado (Colombia, Argentina), Faye Kabali-Kagwa (South Africa), Nikos Mavrakis (Greece), Aya Nabulsi (Jordan, Saudi Arabia), Srishti Ray (India), Ndèye Mané Touré (Senegal) and Yuan Zhang (China). The curators will meet in Chemnitz in November to finalise the programme. On site, they will jointly select around 40 productions to be shown next year.

Chemnitz Theatre, The Festival Academy Brussels and the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH jointly organise the festival, which has been held in a different German city every three years since 1981. It is a festival of the German Centre of the International Theatre Institute e.V. and is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the Free State of Saxony and the City of Chemnitz.
