The European Capitals of Culture 2025 present their programmes at the European Parliament

This year's European Capitals of Culture Chemnitz and Nova Gorica - Gorizia presented their programmes under the mottos "C the Unseen" and "Go Borderless!" to members of the European Parliament and political guests on Tuesday To members of the European Parliament and political guests. In addition, the joint white book "40 recommendations from 40 years of ECoC" was presented, which summarises the results of an extensive research project and provides impetus for the future direction of the European Capitals of Culture.

Together with the Members of the European Parliament Anna Cavazzini, Matthias Ecke, Matjaž Nemec, Oliver Schenk and Irena Joveva, posters with an overview of the Capitals of Culture were distributed to all Members of Parliament. The successful cultural promotion initiative has been in existence since 1985 and is thus celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

The contents of the White Paper were then discussed with Dr Andreas Handschuh, Head of the Saxon State Chancellery and State Secretary for Federal and European Affairs, Andreja Viher White, Deputy Ambassador of Slovenia to the EU, and Nela Riel, Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education in the EU Parliament, as well as the Mayor of Chemnitz, Sven Schulze, and the Mayor of Nova Gorica, Samo Turel.

The "Maker Residences " in Chemnitz and Nova Gorica were presented at a subsequent reception. Part of the residences: The creative centres Xcenter and Vectorlab presented an interactive and creative art project that will continue to grow - at the Makers United festival at the end of June in Chemnitz.
