As part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, the FUNKEN Academy is launching a new workshop programme for graduates of Saxon art and music colleges in collaboration with Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC). We are looking for artists who would like to design and implement an interdisciplinary workshop at the interface of art, technology and research in autumn 2025.
Under the motto "C the Unseen", three research areas of the TUC, the MeTech Laboratory for Human-Technology Interaction, the MERGE research cluster and the MAIN Centre for Nanomembranes , will be opened up for artistic work. The focus is on the creative exploration of scientific methods, innovative materials and speculative technologies.
After a three-day research residency in the rooms and laboratories of Chemnitz University of Technology, the invited artists will develop a multi-day workshop format for students and young graduates of the art and music universities. In the subsequent work phase, they will supervise the resulting artistic projects and accompany the exhibition on 12 November 2025.
