The Maker Advent is in the final of the German Tourism Award 2025, a competition organised by the German Tourism Association (DTV) to recognise tourism products and services that are particularly innovative. The Maker Advent is one of the five projects selected this year.
Workshops during the Advent season
The Maker Advent invites you to get creative in the run-up to Christmas. Workshops, studios and other locations in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region open their doors and combine Saxon craft traditions with modern creative tourism. Visitors not only experience culture as observers, but can also touch cultural heritage with their hands and get creative themselves. From 24 November to 30 December 2025, 160 hands-on activities with 320 dates will take place in 42 towns and municipalities. The range of activities extends from woodwork to textile design and ceramics. All workshops and hands-on activities for the Maker Advent 2025 can be found online at chemnitz2025.de/makeradvent and in a printed brochure from the beginning of November.
Vote now for the audience award
In addition to the jury decision, an ADAC Audience Award will also be presented. Votes can be cast online at deutschertourismuspreis.de until 5 November 2025. If you would like to support the Maker Advent, you can cast your vote here.
About the German Tourism Award
55 entries were submitted for the German Tourism Award 2025, five of which are in the final. An expert jury will judge the projects according to criteria such as degree of innovation, quality and sustainability. The award ceremony will take place on 19 November 2025 at the German Tourism Day in Saarbrücken. Since 2005, the German Tourism Association has been honouring projects that open up new perspectives for tourism in Germany with this award. The Maker Advent shows how creative tourism offers can combine regional identity and collaborative design.
